Roots of American Music (ROAM) is dedicated to ensuring that today’s young people and our communities remain connected to the history and spirit of our country. Through preservation, performance and education about traditional American music, we respect our nation’s diverse heritage and build bridges of understanding between different generations, races and ethnic groups.

Since 1999, Roots of American Music (ROAM) has been connecting individuals young and old to the history and spirit of our country through traditional American music. ROAM's educational residencies and assemblies teach students to respect our nation’s musical heritage, as well as our ethnic, racial and regional diversity. Teaching academic content is at the core of this approach.

ROAM's artistic staff are qualifed to satisfy a community need for high value public programming. Artists are both performers and educators who use folk, jazz, blues and other types of roots music to create lessons that are fun, engaging and address Ohio Arts Academic Content Standards. Students experience the sheer joy of music by singing, playing instruments, and writing songs that connect to specific periods of American history and culture.
